Grocery Shops in Review

Hey hey, are you here to see what we bought and spent this past week at the grocery store?? I have a lot of catching up to do! I had a Costco delivery on Saturday, June 16th ... can I just tell you how great that is?? I spent $188 and got everything I wanted (veggies, black bean burgers, water, and a bunch of other stuff) within 2 hours of placing the order on line. Seriously?? Why would I ever fight for another parking space again?? Same day delivery is via InstaCart BUT if you go through the Costco app, there is no delivery charge!  Also, the price is marked up a *little* but nothing that would make me say it's the same or more than a local grocery store so yes, I recommend it! And then I had a Walmart pick up on Wednesday, June 20th ... that is a game changer as well - got me 36 Kcup pods for the price of 18 as they didn't have any in stock! Again, I placed my order that morning before I went to work and told them I would be by to pick up between 5 and 6pm. They se...

Yes, #Shelftember is still on ... but good grief! I made a stop after work on Tuesday ... called Hubby to see if he stopped as well as I knew he wanted milk and q-tips ... he stopped earlier and that was all he got. What willpower. Dude. Yeah, whatever! Pineapple - Aldi $2.29 and Spaghetti Squash - Trader Joe's $2.99 I stopped at Publix ... and that's how my week played out!   Ground beef $6.99 each and chicken Thighs $3.69/pound Publix - September 19, 2017 Total Spent - $58.09 Ah. Already, OVER my so-called weekly budget. So, I really did NOT have a list with me but kind of, sort of knew what i needed. Never a good idea, right? I also had a handy dandy $5 off $45 coupon burning a hole in my pocket. Ahem, I actually have THREE, but now, only 2. While standing in line, I read that fine print and noticed it starts 9/20 ... but the lady in front of me used hers so I'm like hot damn, I'm using mine! Well, one of mine! *Note, the stores are NOT b...

We are still going forward with Shelftember BUT there has been a little bit of a set back with the hurricane last week … I ended up tossing a few things as time went on and then when the power came back on, I went through everything once again just to be safe. Can I tell you how glad I am that I iced up grocery bags and tossed them in the freezers that past week. It kept things frozen and reduced my loss quite substantially. I was pretty anal about checking stuff several times a day, moving things around. I know you are not supposed to be opening the freezers but I couldn’t help it. I kept moving everything DOWN as the cold air falls … doh. On top of it all, we are eating three times the amount of food in that the kids and their better halves are staying with us as well. Have you been following me on Instagram? You’ll see another guest that’s quite demanding as well. So this past week had ONE grocery shop since I’m not counting our pre-hurricane rush to the store. Well, I survived my first week with single girl status. It was fine! Ok, maybe I wasn't totally single ... I'm still married to Hubby, he's just in Indiana ... the Boy is still here and the cats too.  It's kind of nice in that the Boy and I did a few things, such as watched Suicide Squad (!!??) and then did a few grocery shops together ... how nice! First stop: Aldi June13, 2017 Total Spent - $82.72 Purpose of shop was for some veggies and protein to get me through the week.  Guess which things were for the Boy? Cilantro Lime Riced Cauliflower

#JANUARYWHOLE30 *Repost alert! This is made all the time, even when I'm not doing a Whole30 ... it's just yummy, healthy eating!* Did you see my excitement a few weeks ago when I finally found the bags of riced cauliflower at Trader Joe's? I made a bag of that stuff that very night without any thought ... that's how excited I really was ;-) It was really easy too since the cauliflower was already riced ... all I had to do was zest a lime, chop some cilantro, juice the lime and cook the "rice". I have turned so many people on to this stuff in the past few weeks that I may never find it again at the Trader Joe's by my house! *Type 1 Diabetics should be stockpiling this stuff with only 3 grams of carbs per serving! This isn't really a recipe, so to speak, but more of a process. And I'm looking forward to making it again! Here's what you need: 1 12 oz bag of riced cauliflower (or you can certainly rice your own, it's just...

*I'm joining in on the #SeptemberWhole30 Challenge which officially started on Monday, September 5th (thankfully AFTER the holiday weekend was almost over!!* Did you see my excitement a few weeks ago when I finally found the bags of riced cauliflower at Trader Joe's? Grocery Cart Sunday

This past week had FOUR stops! Certainly made up for last week, I guess. BUT I’m thinking, I’m missing a stop somewhere, maybe from the previous week, where I picked up cauliflower, broccoli, etc. from Aldi … but I can’t find my receipt nor do I see it on any of my other posts … so I’m going to throw a rough from memory number out here! I mean heck, I even had a picture from the 18th WHICH was that Monday ...  The Pantry / Freezer Challenge is coming along pretty well … the freezer is actually viewable and you can see what’s in there. The main kitchen is also coming along. I need to work on the guest kitchen freezer and get it cleaned up and organized. It’s just a jumbled mess right now, but Hubby is doing a great job in using what we have without going over board (he has a tendency to feed an army, not just the 2 or 3 of us) … So, here’s where we shopped this week: One day, not too long ago, Aldi (Monday, the 18th, from the picture date)… picked up a bunch of ve...

Grocery Cart Sundays

I don't know why, but I love to read what other bloggers are buying at the grocery store. Yeah. I guess you could say I'm obsessed with food ... but I 'think' I have a healthy relationship with it ;-) So, with that said, I thought, what the heck, I'll try to share my weekly grocery trips ... and if everything is going according to plan, you would even get a picture or two ... but of course, things don't always go as planned ... so a picture or two may, or may not, be included! A bonus for me to share weekly is to keep my grocery budget in check (hopefully!) *My goal for 2016 is $100 per person, per month. That's $300.00 a month, based on my household right now.  That is strictly food, not paper or cleaning products or cat stuff. I need to figure out how to add in the additional visitors, friends, family members that frequently come for dinner and happy hours ... but that is my intended upcoming budget! Oh ... and currently, I am doing a Whole30 to boot i...
