Frugal In Florida

We just had a bridal shower for Princess and then this coming weekend will be the wedding reception for 65 ... Held in our backyard  Ok, so not necessarily a 'big' deal as we've hosted large groups before, but this time around is a tad different in that it will be a little more formal. As in: tents, chairs, tables, linens, food warmers and so on. Eek. We are making most of the food ourselves with a few shortcuts (which I think maybe I should do a post on this soon!) ... and opted to do beer, wine and sangria with a pre-party toast for close friends and family (Dom Perignon for $93 on clearance at Walmart Liquor Store, of all places!). Then Princess was like, well, maybe we should have ONE signature drink ... so fine, this is what we are having, my little Princess. Ohh...I loved them things when I was a kid ... we would wait for the ice cream truck EVERY STINKIN SATURDAY and beg my parents for the quarter ... Pushups and Orange Dreamsicles were my favs ... And even as an adult, if I'm given a choice, yes, I will have the pushup please :-) ... and LOOK, now I found an adult beverage that taste a LOT like a dreamsicle. AND ...  it uses the WHIPPED vodka (thankfully as I do not want to drink it straight!) and I had a little bit left still in a bottle from a previous night of stupidity ... so grab that blue bottle of yumminess and get crackin! 2 oz whipped vodka (Pinnacle is what I have but I thought I saw another brand putting it out now) 2 oz orange juice (um, personally, I HATE pulp and would strongly discourage it in a cocktail) 2 oz lemon lime soda (I used sierra mist as that's what I had on hand) splash of grenadine       Umm....easy. You all know that I am NO longer allowed to drink Fireball, right?  Apparently, if I drink it too late in the night, I tend to drink MORE and then I get all pukey ... not a good thing by any one's standards, trust me.  The thought of Fireball makes me shudder now. Any way. Vodka, on the other hand ... well, that certainly got Hubby's attention ... and then we were thinking, ahhh, Indiana in the winter ... how comforting! Maybe? I don't know.  All I DO know is that I made this in a small batch (Hubby wanted a whole bottle's worth!) to make a apple cider grown up drink and I'm hooked now!  I do wish I had made a double batch as this lasted one evening!
