January 2017 Grocery Spending

Image
HI! Welcome to what I 'hope' to be a new, monthly post.  I say HOPE because you know, life gets in the way of things but this year, I'm aiming to really watch them dollars and treat them like little green soldiers with a job to do each and every day ... In late December, I opened up another CapitalOne 360 account online. This one was a checking account (I already have two savings accounts set up there) and it's specifically for grocery shopping. I figured maybe, just MAYBE this will keep my grocery shopping in check.  I deposited $200 at the time of opening and then another $200 right before the new year so I would have my new goal of $400 in that checking account. The debit card arrived a little over a week after I set it up, thanks to the funky Monday holiday schedule and I used it the first time on January 4th ... I kept all my receipts in an envelope in my notebook … I really should have typed them up as the month went along but that would have required too ef...

Passive Savings Plan

I figured with the new year starting, I'd share some of my Passive Savings Plans ... it's not rocket science, trust me, BUT I do have a hard time saving money, intentionally and then leaving it alone.  These 4 things work for me and I hope you are able to find something that works for YOU! Yes, they are all referral links and I will receive a small compensation IF you opt to sign up through one of these programs.  If you prefer not to go through my link, simply google the name of the program and click directly through 😉 Are ANY of you setting goals for the new year? I'm on the fence. I do it every year and then before you know it, it's already August and you are like WTF? The year is more than half over with no hope of achieving some of those goals now! 1.        Digit .   Digit is a cool little program that sweeps a few pennies to a few dollars per day from your bank account. You will need text messaging for this as they send you a ...

Being a Star in My Teen's Eye

I am Queen for a few days. As much as I'd like to enjoy it, the thought that my baby is leaving still puts a shadow over the Queen status. See, I don't talk much about the extra things you can do on the web to earn cash, gift cards, points, etc. And of course, you ALL know about Swagbucks by now, right? Of course you do! So yeah, Swagbucks is great. I've gotten quite a few paypal bucks but more importantly, I've gotten A LOT of Amazon $5 gift cards. Sweet momma. But back in June, June 6th to be exact, Sonny Boy and G/F were looking over my shoulder as I searched for something online. And I hear "Oh HEY, MAYHEM FEST!" Ummm, yeah, whatever. Well, it was a swagstakes and we bet 99 swag bucks. Guess what? We won! So yeah, that was exciting in that hey, we got TWO TICKETS TO MAYHEM FEST! Ummm....they started at $25 each so that was cool in itself. BUT. We couldn't figure out what kind of tickets they were. 3rd row from the front of main stage. Back...

Swagbucks and Amazon

I am sure everyone out there knows about swagbucks by now. And hopefully, you've all joined up and are using it as your search engine. Because of Swagbucks, I've currently got $40 in my little amazon account, waiting for the right thing to come my way ... most likely something along the lines of an Earth Box. :) Yeah. I want to try an earth box, and heck, if I can get it for "free" just from my searches, I'm all over it!!!  I'm actually getting ready to redeem a few more points here which will put me at $65 in the account.  Sweet! FYI - I didn't realize it at the time, but when someone refers you to swagbucks, they get points when you do....wow. I am NOT trying to get anyone to sign up, really ... but I wish now I had known that as I can't even remember WHO it was that I clicked through to sign up. That's kind of sad in a way as there are some people out there in the blogsphere that I'd help sooner than others!! Anyhow, I've had no ...
