Sweet and Spicy Meatballs

It's that time of the year where everyone is running around trying to come up with a quick appetizer to come to the holiday parties with ... here's a simple one that I will be serving at our Christmas Party coming up ...

These were originally made for the girls night I had a few months ago ... I figured they were a hit with the wide variety of tastebuds at THAT party ... therefore, they should be good enough for the holidays! The only thing(s) I propose to do differently is: less brown sugar AND cook them in a crock pot. Yup, that's it.

I so need to get a better picture this time around!

Here's what you need to do a big batch:

3 lbs of frozen meatballs. I am using the Costco Italian Meatballs, my favorite
1 3/4 cup molasses - used up the rest of Hubby's stash for his BBQ sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar NOT packed
2 tsp ginger
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp garlic powder (not salt)
pinch of cayenne (I sort of wish I had added more, that might have sold me)
1 cup water

Add everything to a pot except the meatballs and stir well. Add in meatballs and stir as well as you can.

Serve up on a platter with toothpicks. The cool girl over at Oh Bite It served hers with pretzel sticks for the spears ... I'm just not that cool and would rather save the sticks for dippin' :-)

Enjoy!
