Crock Pot Time! Salisbury Steaks
Are you all drowning in your Pinterest Pins?? I keep adding more boards to get my pins more organized and now I'm thinking I need to do a new board for Pinned and Tried ... just because there are SO MANY!
Anyways.
Salisbury Steaks ... that's normally a Hubby type meal that he prepares ...chars them on the grill, finishes them in the oven and makes a nice gravy to go with the buttered egg noodles. But you know what, after he keeps stealing stuff from the pantries and not telling me, I'm going to start doing all the cooking ... and this is just the beginning (I jest, no way will I take over the cooking 100% ... he's a damn good cook and well, why would I do that??)
The recipe looks simple as heck ... I mean, really. But within the first few seconds of gathering ingredients, I ran into my FIRST glitch ... no onion soup mix ... to which I went back to my rant about using the LAST item of something and not saying something to me ... I'm afraid I'm turning in to a nagging wife :-( ...
So I had to improvise. FIRST IMPROVISING ... onion soup mix.
Got everything going and then rummaged around in the pantry ... I know for a fact that we had at least 4 cans of cream of mushroom soup ... I just bought some! I only see one. Didn't even bother yelling, just grabbed a can of french onion soup (because the beef and shroom soup was MIA too) ... so the recipe below is, again, and as always, the way I did it ...
2 1/4 lbs of ground beef
1 pkg of onion soup mix
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 pkg of brown gravy mix
1 can of cream of mushroom
1 can french onion soup
2 small cans of mushrooms
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup flour
Mix first 4 ingredients in large bowl and form into 8 oval shape patties. Heat skillet with a little olive oil over medium heat.
Dredge patties in flour and brown in skillet on both sides.
Don't cook them, just add a little color to the outside. Transfer patties to crock, stacking them if necessary.
Mix together the gravy mix, soups, shrooms and water. Pour over the patties. Put lid on crock pot and let cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
Serve up with some leftover mashed taters or rice and any veggies, in my case leftover grilled onions and peppers and marvel at your weeknight dinner that was ready the minute you walked in the door ...

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. This is our new favorite for slow cooker meals.
I use "bubba burgers" the pre frozen patties and they work great! Just throw them in frozen with the rest of the ingredients and voila! No mess, little cleanup and in the morning takes 5 minutes to throw in the crock pot.
