Frugal Wear

My girlfriend met me at the mall the other morning. She brought a bag of clothes, thinking some of it might be good for Princess and a few things possibly for me, even though I am "larger" than her :) Well, Princess ended up taking most of the items, surprisingly enough. The few items she left for me to try made me very skeptical. A size 4 dress? Come on girly. You know that I'm pushing on a size 10, hence the diet and halfassed exercise program. Well, I tried on the dress. Spetacular!  Sure, if I could lose them little bulges on the outside of the thigh it would look better, but even so, nice! So the frugal wear was this: MaggyL dress - free Naturalizer black heels - $5.99 Earrings (part of matching necklace set, not worn) - $1.00 Bracelet - $1.00 Total outfit $7.99 ... not bad for an OFFICE outfit!  I suppose I should try to get a picture in the future? After all, I do have the new toy !

so, the other evening, on my way home from work, I had to stop at Goodwill to drop off a bunch of stuff that I had planned on selling at a yard sale, but time got away from me. I dropped the stuff off, got my receipt, parked my car and decided to run in and gave myself exactly 10 minutes to browse. That's what I found. A pair of almost new running shoes. In MY size!!! wowee. Swiss K ... googled them, retail for $75.00 new. Ok, not that BIG of a deal, but to me it is. I've got the $100 pair of Sketcher ShapeUps but they have been causing a few issues with the one foot lately (I still need to post my review of these things soon). $7.00. Then I spotted a brand new (no box) foot spa/pedicure/massager thingy by Homedics. Woohoo! I've been wanting one of them for quite a while but just could NOT justifiy the cost. $7.00 Washed the shoes. Removed the inserts and put in my gel ones that I got in my old shoes. Washed the foot spa/pedicure/massager thingy and put it in the clo...

Ross Dress For Less

The name sort of rings true, I suppose. There is one not too far from my office, like within a mile or so. It's fairly new, to the point where when I saw it, I asked someone WHEN did that arrive?? Well, finally, after saying I was going to do it, I took a lunch yesterday and went there. 45 minutes and $111.00 later, I left with a bag of "goodies", 9 items total. Of course, being on my lunch hour, and in a hurry, I did not try anything on. Anyone care to comment on just what EXACTLY that means?? 7 items to return, 2 to keep. Not so bad then. $17 total. Yeah, that's better than the $111. I suppose this may count as frugalwear afterall ...

Shoes

I never really thought of myself as a shoe freaky kind of girl. But maybe this is some kind of deep rooted issue I have that hasn't come to surface? Last week, when I had the day off from work (and apparently, so did alot of other people), I decided to hit a few of the thrift stores that I can never get to as they close at 4pm during the week and odd hours on Saturday. Well. 3 of the 4 were CLOSED for Good Friday. The nerve!! Oh well. Still ended up going to Out of the Closet, which I can get to normally anyways (they are open til 7 I believe?) Luckily though, it was April 2nd, meaning the $1 color tag was only 2 days old! Woohoo! I haven't timed it that way in quite a while. Not that it mattered, really, in the end. Earth. Naturalizers. Alfani. Oh so many others. I actually had to CHOOSE which shoes to put back. Oh. My. Gelron 2000 Earth Sandals. Retail anywhere from $70 to $120. Brand new. No tags (that's ok with me). Not the prettiest things, but oh are they ever c...

Shoes. Amazing what a cool pair of shoes will do f or your attitude. All for $5.99. Sweet. By Karvings, Inc. Wood heel hand carved. So cool! I spent a total of $24 a few nights ago at Out of the Closet thrift. I got another pair of cool shoes (pics to come), 2 tops, a cool jacket for the office and an Anne Klien 2 piece suit which really, I only wanted the jacket. Tops were $1 each, jacket was $4 and the whole suit was $4.50. Other pair of shoes? Even cooler than these little guys (more dressier) and $7.99 Then this past Thursday, had to go to Lowes to pick up the new patio chairs we had ordered, and drop off a few bags at goodwill. Managed to snag a Bamboo Trader's black skort with blue whales on them. $3 ... whoohoo!

Frugal Wear

Ahh...it's going to be a nice, peaceful week at the office. I'm so looking forward to it! Today is the cool little hurley skirt that I scored for $1 from Out of the Closet. Along with the Old Navy brown tshirt that I tossed in the shopping cart online for $5 to offset the $7.95 shipping fee they were trying to nail me for. Shoes. Well. Shoes. See, I've tossed one pair of sandles this past weekend. And I'm ready to toss another pair shortly. And, well, I stopped at Target on my way to work this morning. Picked up a pair of leather slip on sneakers for $24.99. Gasp. But they are really comfortable. And well, I DO need a new pair. I don't know ... So, what are YOU wearing today?
