Frugal Activities

Hey hey, it's been a LONG time since I've shared any of our  Frugal Activities  and I would love to get back in the habit of doing so! This past week has been pretty good on the frugal front, thankfully ... we really need it! This insurance and cancer stuff is pretty expensive, you know? Being intentionally frugal is the best approach to having a successful week, trust me! Here's some of the  Frugal Activities  we've been doing for the past few days! 1.  I personally avoided the store ... Hubby went one day and spent a whopping $30 ... such a thrifty guy! He had a chemo session so he needed to stock up on liquids to drink for 3 days ... I'm ok with this as it's very important that he stays hydrated! 2. Gave myself a manicure AND painted my toes. Ahem, not just the toe nails, I might add. I started laughing half way through as I couldn't see squat and could see the dark blue polish on the sides of my toes. Oh well, saved me a minimum of $60 doing it my...

Frugal Activities!

Still in NW Indiana and well, it’s kind of hard to stay on track AND keep tabs on stuff! On Wednesday afternoon, we were down the street from the house on our way to go visit a friend and the front end of the jeep started to do some really odd things. Thankfully, we have a 90 day/3,000 mile warranty ... we are 60 plus days in and have over 800 miles left so the jeep is currently at the local dealership. I'm a little concerned in that it's Thursday and they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. HOW do working folks get their cars fixed around here?? I would say that yes, this would qualify as a frugal activity ONLY if it's really a front end issue. Hubby says it is and he is a #gearhead so yeah, I believe warranty will cover it. $100 deductible. I'll take it. Here’s some of the Frugal things we’ve done this past week: 1. Hubby made the last-minute run to the grocery store over the weekend. Generally, if he goes, we spend way less money. I guess we did in that h...

Frugal Activities!

Hi! I figured I’d get back on the Frugal Activities train and start sharing my week in review! I know a lot of you like these posts because I share the frugal things I've done in the past week and the not so frugal things as well … some are good and some are bad. It’s all about full disclosure! So start checking back on Thursday or Friday and hopefully I will have these up to share. I used to do these on Saturday BUT I’ve decided to keep the Grocery Shops in Review on that day as it’s a habit for me now to share! Don’t mess with a good thing, right? So! You may have picked up that I’m in NW Indiana for about 17 days and well, the first few days we blew some serious cash. I finally told Hubby that we needed to rein ourselves in and get focused. Seeing my morning bank account alert freaked me out a little. So much so that I felt the need to move some cash from my savings account over to the checking account. And then I freaked out again as the savings account was lower ...

Staying Focused

Sooo.... The year to date, 5 1/2 months so far (!!??) has really flown by ... I've married my daughter (with the wonderful abilities of a notary public), hosted her wedding reception in our backyard (thanks to a beautiful home that still  has not sold), hosted my niece on her very first trip away from home, showed the house what seems to be a million times, ate well, entertained tons of friends and well ... drained the bank accounts. Ok. Not really drained, as in EMPTY ... but certainly spent more than I normally would.  I'm not sure when I just said f*ck it and stopped keeping track. Seriously. And you know me ... I can justify spending that $1.99 for that larger avocado at Trader Joe's 😏 because, you know, those 69 cent avocados from Aldi are like half the size. Never mind that the larger the avocado, the bigger the seed. Whatever. I guess I just had a moment this evening that made me realize I was "justifying" a tad too much .... hmmm ... buying s...

Frugal Activities

*This was supposed to have been posted over the weekend ... sorry about that! Hey hey, it's time to share the Frugal Activities post and I know a lot of you liked them because of my full disclosure too! We did a quick, whirlwind trip to Nashville, flew in Friday morning EARLY and flew home Sunday night LATE ... good things all around ;-)  Next up is our trip up to Indiana on Tuesday for a little over a week ... that will be fun as well and includes a trip to Costco ::WHEEEEE:: Here's some of the Frugal Activities we've been doing for the past few weeks ...  1.  Avoided that grocery store since Monday, the 17th. Seriously! Hubby made a few $20 stops for milk and miscellaneous things but certainly under our usual $50+ per stop!  Of course, hit it up on Saturday afternoon, after running all day, the day before halloween and spent $75.xx ... this included some snacks, beer and halloween candy. Had to keep it simple as we travel again on Tuesday. 2.  A...

Hey hey, it's time to share the Frugal Activities post and I know a lot of you liked them because of my full disclosure too! It's been crazy busy around these parts lately ... both at home and the office. And of course, I try to have a little fun time too, you know? It's a very fine balance and I'm trying to perfect it ...  So.  Whats been going on in YOUR life?  Are you all things Fall and Pumpkins yet? I'm getting there, although we don't really have the dramatic change in the season like the rest of the country does. I still miss that, all these years later.  However, thanks to Hurricane Matthew's sideswipe the week before last, we did experience some cooler weather and a little less humidity. Sadly it's been windy as heck, which, I suppose, is kind of an October expectation ...  Here's some of the Frugal Activities we've been doing for the past few weeks ...  1.  Stayed out of the grocery stores for 9 days until Friday evening. On...

Hey hey, it's time to share the Frugal Activities post and I know a lot of you liked them because of my full disclosure too! So, what the heck, since I seem to have fallen off the Menu Plan Post, let's revive the Frugal Activities shall we? I generally try to start my week on Monday with it ending on Sunday but pretty much keep Sunday out of the picture as I try to keep that as a stay home, entertain family and relax day! Here are some of our Frugal Activities that we did this past week! 1. Only hit up the grocery store one time, and that was at Walmart and it was a proactive trip for the potential of a storm hitting us. Luckily, that fizzled out and well, what I bought we will be using. It was MORE than I anticipated, $130 ... 2.  Ate all 5 breakfast at home and packed my lunch for 4 of the 5 work days. The one day I didn't pack was Friday as my boss was taking me out to my favorite place, yet again. I'm telling you, I really do have the best boss!  ...

Here are some of our Frugal Activities that we did this past week! 1. Hit up the grocery store (Publix) on Monday after work. Uhm, spent a little more than I wanted, $70, but that included quite a few cleaning supplies, salad stuff, milk and a few other things. My goal was to hit up Aldi once later in the week for salad stuff and Walmart for my Dad ... that worked out, NOT so much (see #1 below!) 2.  Ate all 5 breakfast at home and packed my lunch for 4 of the 5 work days. The one day I didn't pack was for a social luncheon that we were ...

I generally try to start my week on Monday with it ending on Sunday but pretty much keep Sunday out of the picture as I try to keep that as a stay home, entertain family and relax day! Here are some of our Frugal Activities that we did this past week! 1.  Stuck with my cash in pocket and budget for the most part ... $100 for groceries and $50 for miscellaneous stuff (hair/clothes/additional food, etc.) ... I carried over the $20 from last week. 2.  Paid off the credit card that had my new laptop on it. 3 months, not so bad and it was interest free since I opted for that plan when I made the purchase. Can I just tell you what a life saver Digit has been? It's a great passive savings tool that I use to make additional debt...
