Grocery Shops In Review #2

Image
Hi! Looky that, a 2nd Grocery Shop in Review post! Hubby is traveling this week and returns on the 20th (left Wednesday after his infusion) ... I'm out of the #tinycondo on Friday and Saturday next week to babysit the baby boy (ok, so he's a year old now!) while Princess and her man go to a wedding ... so really, I shouldn't be needing this much food, right?! Ahem. Costco - 1/5/2019 Total Spent - $315.63 First off, there are a LOT of non-food items on here but because I don't really break down my household/food budget (hah, who are we kidding, FOOD BUDGET??) I'm putting it all out there ... and more than anything, you might see something that seems like a good deal to you! 50 pk hangers - $12.99 less $3 (I'll share a picture of my before and after closet just for kicks) OralB Smart Electric Toothbrush (2 pk) $149.99 less $50 12 pc (4 plates, 4 salad bowls, 4 cereal bowls) $14.99 (perfect for what we need!) 15 pounds of baking taters $6.99 (the B...

Hey! I'm back! Well, sort of ... but I do know a lot of you still stop by to check out some of my old Grocery Shops in Review posts (who knew that was such a popular subject??) so I figured, what the heck: New Year New Budget! A quick update: Mark is still undergoing chemo for Esophageal Cancer. He is on his 3rd type of treatment: Taxol and something else, every other week. I believe it's happening and hopefully he will be able to tolerate the side effects for a while as the 4th line is not that successful in keeping things at bay. The last scan at the beginning of November showed the cancer had not spread, but the tumors were all larger than when initially diagnosed. That stunk. We sold the house, finally. Bought a little condo and JUST moved in a few weeks ago after some extensive remodeling. Certainly a big adjustment. The Boy is out on his own and well, it's an adjustment all around! And I'm still working on the new blog over here ... Ok ... let's get...

Hey hey, are you here to see what we bought and spent this past week at the grocery store?? I have a lot of catching up to do! I had a Costco delivery on Saturday, June 16th ... can I just tell you how great that is?? I spent $188 and got everything I wanted (veggies, black bean burgers, water, and a bunch of other stuff) within 2 hours of placing the order on line. Seriously?? Why would I ever fight for another parking space again?? Same day delivery is via InstaCart BUT if you go through the Costco app, there is no delivery charge!  Also, the price is marked up a *little* but nothing that would make me say it's the same or more than a local grocery store so yes, I recommend it! And then I had a Walmart pick up on Wednesday, June 20th ... that is a game changer as well - got me 36 Kcup pods for the price of 18 as they didn't have any in stock! Again, I placed my order that morning before I went to work and told them I would be by to pick up between 5 and 6pm. They se...

Hey, hey, looking to see what we've bought in the past week or so? Ugh, I haven't shared one of these post since ... late APRIL!? Sorry. Sorry, really, I'm sorry! I have most of my receipts but gosh, I can't recreate 6 weeks or so! We were in Houston the first week of June and then did a quick stop on Sunday morning at Winn Dixie ... I think we spent around $35 but I'm not 100% certain. The Princess, Baby Boy and Hubby In Law were here for the day and I wanted to make some hot dogs, baked beans and corn so a super quick stop was in order. Of course, I must have tossed that receipt! Seriously, though, go check out the recipe for the corn! Spot On! So we went the WHOLE week without a shop ... and then Whole Foods - June 15th, 2018 Total Spent - $101.60 Honestly, I went in with just a few things I wanted to get: watermelon, cucumbers, some other fruit and a bottle of wine ... yeah, right. Nom Nom Paleo Magic Mushroom Seasoning $7.99 peaches $3.95 (...

Hey, hey, looking to see what we've bought in the past week or so? Hubby was out the previous week, home for his 4th treatment and then flew out again on Saturday morning. The only good news on that is that we didn't shop a whole lot those 2 weeks ... So after he flew out Saturday morning, I came home and cleaned house at 6am ... had to wait for the medical pickup people to pick up the defective pump from this week (yeah, Hubby was hooked up for 48 hours and only got, maybe, 1/3 of the poison. He knew it wasn't working right and even called to do a check of everything) and THEN I knew I had to hit up a store! Not my best choice.... Whole Foods - April 28th, 2018 Total Spent - $116.63 Yeah. Quite a bit more than planned AND I still need some other things. Ugh. 3.48 pounds of b/s chicken breast $13.89 ($3.99 a pound) 4 pkgs of ground beef (90/10) that were $4.99 a pound - $5.11, $4.84, $5.24 and $5.19 SO Delicious coffee creamer $4.79 bottle of Rose wine $...

Grocery Shops in Review - Costco Edition!

Hey hey ... it's that time again! Time to look at what I bought ... and what I spent ... ::cringe:: It's not so very bad ... honestly! And actually, had the boy not come along, I would have spent even LESS ... but it is what it is ... so while my Mandarin Orange Chicken from Trader Joe (freezer!) cooks up, I'm going to type up the receipt and hopefully get the pictures cleaned up and ready to post asap! I did  have a list. A very specific list.  And it was short! Crazy, I know!  And I stuck with it, except for ONE thing ... The biggest frugal fail ever! I bet that book is available on Kindle, Amazon, the library! Everywhere for FREE ... if not today, soon! Yup. It called my name ... "over here ... you deserve a brand new book to read this weekend" ... "yes, you do ... it's only $15.99" Uhm, that's the equivalent of THREE bags of that Mandarin Orange Chicken ... Moving on ... (and that book better NOT get a single splash ...

Grocery Trips in Review

Image
The Boy and I hit up Costco on Tuesday ... only because Hubby took a road trip to Ocala to see his sister. We originally planned to go on Monday but the Boy opted to spend time with some friends so we went on Tuesday instead. I went to Trader Joe's on Monday, which, in hindsight, was pretty dumb on my part. Oh well. I love Trader Joe's ... my wallet, not so much! But I  can  justify it the majority of the time, just as long as I stay under $50 ... and I can't tell you the last time I did that. Bummer. However, there are some things that we just can't buy anywhere else that's acceptable. A few of those things: frozen macaroni and cheese frozen cooked shrimp decent, inexpensive wine onion salt (!!) and, of course, that riced cauliflower Of course, I didn't buy all that stuff but a bunch of other things ... Trader Joe's - March 19, 2018 Total Spent - $72.89 I guess I should be glad it was under $100, right? about 4...

Grocery Shopping Week in Review

Image
It's been a while since I've shared a grocery trip ... mostly because I haven't been shopping a whole lot! Hubby has been going more often than me and he just doesn't buy a lot ... We've also not been meal planning OR prepping a whole lot. This cancer stuff has really gotten us all tangled up in our life. Ugh. NOT to mention, I'm also posting more on the new site so make sure you come check that out as well! The Mark and Jan Show! So, what the heck! I went to see my dad Friday after work, and as always, stopped at Walmart to pick up a few things for him and grabbed a few things for us ... Quite an understatement. Walmart - March 16th, 2018 Total Spent - $171.61 1 8 pk gatorade $5.38 1 12 pk gatorade (smaller bottles) $5.38 2 bottles of orange juice $3.28 each (of which one and half containers are gone already) long sleeve tshirt (for me) $5 (not food related but it's on the reciept) 4 pkgs of brown gravy mix $.52 each 4 pkgs of chicken gravy ...
