Grocery Shops in Review - Costco Edition!

Image
Hey hey ... it's that time again! Time to look at what I bought ... and what I spent ... ::cringe:: It's not so very bad ... honestly! And actually, had the boy not come along, I would have spent even LESS ... but it is what it is ... so while my Mandarin Orange Chicken from Trader Joe (freezer!) cooks up, I'm going to type up the receipt and hopefully get the pictures cleaned up and ready to post asap! I did  have a list. A very specific list.  And it was short! Crazy, I know!  And I stuck with it, except for ONE thing ... The biggest frugal fail ever! I bet that book is available on Kindle, Amazon, the library! Everywhere for FREE ... if not today, soon! Yup. It called my name ... "over here ... you deserve a brand new book to read this weekend" ... "yes, you do ... it's only $15.99" Uhm, that's the equivalent of THREE bags of that Mandarin Orange Chicken ... Moving on ... (and that book better NOT get a single splash ...

Grocery Trips in Review

The Boy and I hit up Costco on Tuesday ... only because Hubby took a road trip to Ocala to see his sister. We originally planned to go on Monday but the Boy opted to spend time with some friends so we went on Tuesday instead. I went to Trader Joe's on Monday, which, in hindsight, was pretty dumb on my part. Oh well. I love Trader Joe's ... my wallet, not so much! But I  can  justify it the majority of the time, just as long as I stay under $50 ... and I can't tell you the last time I did that. Bummer. However, there are some things that we just can't buy anywhere else that's acceptable. A few of those things: frozen macaroni and cheese frozen cooked shrimp decent, inexpensive wine onion salt (!!) and, of course, that riced cauliflower Of course, I didn't buy all that stuff but a bunch of other things ... Trader Joe's - March 19, 2018 Total Spent - $72.89 I guess I should be glad it was under $100, right? about 4...

Hey, did you miss the weekly review last week?? That's because I did NOT go to the store once! #Shelftember Success! Sort of. If only we hadn't had that damn storm ... I so would have been in the right mind to do it .. sadly, the storm cleared out my freezers quite a bit (between long power loss and feeding everyone that came by to prevent a total waste of food) I was a little strapped for proteins. But we made it. I did spend LESS at the end of the month. Not as much as I would have liked, but anything is better than nothing, right? So here's how my week panned out: Publix - October 2, 2017 Total Spent $75.76 A little more than I aimed for ... I had a $5 off $45 to use 2 bags of BBQ Ranch chopped salad mix $3 each 1 bag of Asian chopped salad mix $3 Oven cleaner $4.59 (been a long time since I've bought and wow, it's not cheap!) Stainless steel polish cleaner $4.15 6 bottles of coconut water $4.99 for each 2 as they were B1G1F package of th...

So we are the first weekend in to the September Challenge … whee!! Anyone else following along on the #Shelftember challenge? I’ve given myself $30 a week … fingers crossed!  Kitten is a little concerned because their cat food is part of that budget! Of course, full disclosure, I did hit up Costco last weekend (Sunday) and spent around $357.14 and finally  found the missing receipt so that shop will be shared as well. ( Here is the post! ) It should be noted that not everything was food related but because it was bought during a grocery shop, it's included! *Check out funcheaporfree.com and look her up on Instagram and Facebook ... she's giving away a FREEZER for some lucky person who is playing along with #Shelftember! Jelly! Here’s how the rest of the week played out before September 1 st hit! Whole Foods – August 31 st , 2017 Total Spent – 68.64  I did NOT notice a reduction in price of a single item like they've been marketing.  ...

I tried to stay away from the grocery stores all week long and was somewhat successful. Only thing ... well, three things ... friends over Wednesday night for dinner, Princess and her Hubby came in on Thursday night, and we hosted a small get together of about 12 people on Friday night. Not a problem! Wednesday night we had burgers and hot dogs (from the freezer!) ... glad I had bought the buns last week!  I also made a bag of Handsome Fries (Trader Joes) and then serve up some diced tomatoes, onions and shredded cheese to go along with everything. Thursday night was a crockpot dinner ... General Tso Chicken (recipe coming soon!) with chicken from freezer and a batch of Un-Rolled Egg Rolls (slaw in fridge) and 2 bags of Trader Joe's Veggie Fried Rice (freezer).  Hubby did stop at the store to get 2 small bags of stir fry veggies. Friday night I opted to just do a Mexican/taco fiesta. Ground beef from freezer, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and onions from fridge. I had...

Hey hey, Happy Saturday! Time for me to share my recent grocery trips! Hubby and I took a little staycation last week at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Hilton Hotel. We Ubered there Friday afternoon and had the Boy pick us up on Sunday afternoon. It was a nice little getaway, not all that frugal but we made the best of it while we were there!  The only reason I share that is because I didn't do a whole lot of grocery shopping the week before! Ok, here's what I did  buy this past week! Three trips ... could have skipped one or the other but whatever! Publix - August 14, 2017 Total Spent - $85.61 Jalapeno pepper $.28 4 Chobi greek yogurts $5 for all 4 organic shredded carrots $2.79 (not that I wanted organic) spring mix $2 container grape tomatoes $3 3 (all that was on shelf) large bottles of coconut water $3.99 each Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee $7.99 sweet onion (2) $3.31 mini sweet peppers $7.19 4 pound bag of naval oranges $3.99 (that were horrible) 2 4 pks of ...

Well, I survived my first week with single girl status. It was fine! Ok, maybe I wasn't totally single ... I'm still married to Hubby, he's just in Indiana ... the Boy is still here and the cats too.  It's kind of nice in that the Boy and I did a few things, such as watched Suicide Squad (!!??) and then did a few grocery shops together ... how nice! First stop: Aldi June13, 2017 Total Spent - $82.72 Purpose of shop was for some veggies and protein to get me through the week.  Guess which things were for the Boy? He offered to pay for his own stuff and I just gave him that look. Just buy me a margarita kid! 2 dozen large eggs $.99 each 3 8 oz pkgs of mushrooms $1.29 each 2 pkgs zucchini $1.69 each 2 containers of butter lettuce $1.69 each Pineapple Slicer $3.99 *kinda cheesy but the boy wanted it. Even at 24 he can still give me that look and make me cave in 2 bags of shredded hash browns $1.99 each Cilantro $.99 Organic grape tomatoes $1.99 2 pkgs ...
