Steak Bites
Steak Nibbles?
Steak Snacks?
Steak Bits?
Steak Tidbits?
I just decided to stick with the Steak Bites .... it describes them perfectly!
I love steak. And would love to eat it daily, but alas, I'm on a mission to live a little more Frugal and pay off some debt and the mortgage as soon as possible, so I figured, bits of steak are better than NO steak ... right?
Oh, yeah, there's the Pantry Challenge too ... so we pretty much are using what we have, which luckily, consists of some bits of steak!
This is a quick and easy set up ... and I can't wait to do it again!
1 1/2 pounds or so of steak. I used a flat iron steak as that's what I had in the freezer
2 tbs of ghee. Yes, I have ghee. If you don't, you can use butter ...
salt
black pepper
Steak seasoning (I used this Montreal Steak Seasoning that I've had like forever ... it's being used a lot in the past few weeks!)
Cut your steak in to cubes, about 1 inch or so. Toss the cubes in a bowl and season generously with the seasoning, salt and pepper.
Turn on your stove vent and maybe crack a window open.
Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add ghee or butter. Melt, swirl around the pan and add half the meat cubes.
Let cook for about 2 minutes and then flip all the pieces over quickly. Allow to cook til desired doneness and move them to a bowl or serving platter. Repeat with balance of the steak bits ... you should NOT need more ghee or butter but if you do, add a little more.
Stick a few random toothpicks in a couple of pieces if desired and serve up family style.
Enjoy!
*Note - I was serving potato soup alongside. I also had rice cooking in the rice cooker and some black beans simmering on the stove. The kids (all 4) opted to make burritos with a tortilla wrap, rice, black beans, green onions and cheese (for the soup) and the steak bits ... I'm glad they did because I was a little apprehensive about not having enough beef to go around! So thankful that my kids are innovative!

Oh yum! The steak bites look delish! Thanks for linking up to Snickerdoodle Sunday.
ReplyDeleteMy son would also eat steak every day if he could. When he was little he would always ask for a "big hunk of meat." I like the idea of little pieces though. Thanks for sharing!
