Frugal Activities #5

Honestly, knowing that I am going to be posting this weekly (occasionally every other week!) keeps me on track a little better! Here's some of the Frugal Activities we've done this past week: 1.   Convinced myself and Hubby that we did NOT need to order a pizza on Saturday night ... I tossed out the option of using the last frozen pizza from freezer (not quite up to Hubby's standards) or we ate leftover fajita fixings that Princess and boyfriend made earlier in the day. 2.   Paid all my bills for the month online. 3.   Read more of Mr. Money Mustache . Seriously, I can see the man being abrasive to some and obnoxious but he tells it like he sees it. Making me consider downsizing the vehicles ;-) 4.   Paid the car insurance online with the American Express to get more points. Hubby shopped and found one with a little better coverage (towing and roadside assistance, car rental replacement, etc.) for about $50 less every 6 months. NOT a hug...

Work Out Better With Your Cell Phone

Image
Think about this: a mere 20 years ago, cell phones were pretty much only for those people who REALLY needed them ... they were BIG, expensive and well, just not for the normal, everyday use of most people! Source Um, no, that is NOT going to fit in my purse, let alone my back pocket :) I don't want to even mention the pager days ... the 911 being added at the end for those "urgent" calls ... trying to find a payphone that was somewhat clean looking (speaking of which, are we the only city without pay phones anymore??) ... I hated those pagers! Now, with modern technology, and the quest to have the latest and greatest (or not so much), I've got myself a Galaxy II. Yes, a TWO. Not a 3, or a 4 or even a note, but a II.  And I believe it's going on two, maybe even THREE years old ... it's been dropped a few times, lost several more times and just recently, I have a hairline crack in the screen from the last drop. I mean, seriously, hairline, as ...

DIY - Fabric Freshner aka Febreeze

Image
I myself have never purchased Febreeze for personal use, but when Princess was in boot camp, she begged me to send some for her boots and such. Apparently everyone used it during boot camp. So of course, being the good mom, I packed some up and sent it to her. Between the actual cost of the bottles (I bought 4) and the cost of shipping (the weight) it was probably the most expensive freshening stuff around! Too bad I didn't have THIS recipe back then... It's a pretty easy thing to mix up and I'm pretty sure you probably have everything on hand to go make a batch right this very second!  I did!! Here's what you need: 2 tbs fabric softnener (Costco size/brand "refreshing scent") 1 tbs baking soda (gosh, have I said how much I LOVE baking soda??) 2 cups warm water Squirt bottle (16 oz size or larger) ... check out your local dollar store, that's where I got mine! Ready? Ready. Dump all in bottle. Put on the top. Shake, shake, shake, shak...
