Pumpkin Smoothie - Grain/Dairy Free

Image
*It's October and time for All Things Pumpkin!* I mentioned over  here  that I am not a huge pumpkin fan ... but once in a while I find something that makes me think .... Hmmmmm, not so very bad after all ... And this is one of those times! Original recipe comes from  Civilized Caveman  and of course, I have to do my own things to make it more ME! Here's how I did it ... 1/2 cup pumpkin puree 1/2 cup almond milk 1/4 cup apple juice (I used cider, it's what I had) 1/2 frozen banana (I used a whole banana, will do half next time) 1/2 tsp pumpkin spice 1/2 tsp hemp heart seeds (these are so tasty and loaded with something healthy, I just know it and impart a nutty flavor) 1/2 cup (more or less) ice small handful of pecans or walnuts, chopped, for garnish if desired. Guess what you do? Toss all (except walnuts/pecans) in blender and let it rip til smooth. Pour in glass and garnish with pecans/walnuts. I didn't have t...

Very Berry Smoothie

*This is a repost from January 2013 (!) and Hubby was wanting to make it as he's sick now and we've discovered that coconut water helps with dehydration and leg cramps (surprise!) so I figured why not share it again! Plus it's Pantry Challenge friendly in that we have both items on hand! Berry Berry Easy to make ...  Very Berry Smoothie ...  Easy Berry Smoothie ...  Berry Easy Smoothie ...  You got the point? Imagine that, ME, the huge cheese freak, has given up CHEESE for the most part ... after I took out the nachos and pizzas, cheese just doesn't play a big role in my life anymore ...  And most smoothie recipes have yogurt or milk. Sure, I could make my own almond milk if I really wanted to but I've not gone there ... so I still wanted something simple ... ...

A Smoothie To Make Me Feel Better

I just ordered a bunch 3 new vitamins on Amazon... I really need to get focused and try to lose the 10-15 lbs that I've gained.  I've finally come to grips that it may be hormonal charged, especially after catching the Dr. Oz show the day I was home ... uggg ... so I ordered some Holy Basil , CLA and I3C ... lets see how it goes ... Only problem with all this is that I need to take these 2 times a day ... and I have a hard time remembering to take anything! Let me make it clear, I understand that my hormones are not 100% the blame ... I've increased my fat intake while "lowering" my grain/carb intake but have NOT done too much more as far as exercising has gone ... me and another girlfriend are trying to do a 2 1/2 mile walk two times a week and I throw in some other stuff in between ... I've finally convinced Hubby to hook up the DVR in the Florida Room so I can get back to working out again in the morning since I'm waking up early with the time ch...
