That Silver Stuff

Image
Back in January , I opted to go for the REAL silver in the kitchen ... It's worked out real well, and I do feel special when I eat ... nothing like a nice, solid fork in your hand when you eat ... With almost 11 months of use, a LOT of hand washing and a few dishwasher modes, it's starting to get a 'little' tarnished. Some, more so than others. So it's been in the back of my mind to find an EASY, frugal way to clean the stuff, without having to sit there and POLISH it for hours on end. I don't know about you, but I've got plenty of other stuff to be doing than polish silver. So doing my usual linky parties, I came across this one post and was like, WOWEE ... that sounds like a good thing for ME to give a try! Yup. I have everything ...   Tin foil. Baking Soda. Surprise! Boiling water. Lay foil in sink. I'm lucky in that our kitchen sinks are ceramic and HUGE. Hubby told the GC when we remodeled the house that he wanted t...

Busy Day and Unexpected Ending

Image
I woke up at 5:15 this morning, AGAIN, way too early, so I laid in bed and watched the news for a bit. So different than last week's Wednesday wake up call ... or is it really? Anyways. I had a lot to do this morning....the cleaning girl was coming to do a "deep clean" and I wanted to get some stuff cleared out of the way so she could really do a deep clean. More on that shortly. So up and at it.  Cleaned decluttered put stuff away. Woke Princess up as we need to drop her car off to get new tires on at 8am. Had to be back home by 9am to get the cleaning girl in. All went according to plan ... had to be at the rehabilitation hospital to spring my dad free at 10am, we were on the road by 10:45 and back to his place by 11:15. I was in my car at 11:45 on my way back home.... To check on cleaning girl progress and pick up Princess to take her to pick up her car as it's done and ready. Drive home, wait for cleaning girl to finish ... which she did by 2pm (what,...

Menu Plan Week 46

Image
It's already week 46, which means, I've missed a week or two somewhere, and well, since there's only 52 weeks of the year, it also means that we are fast approaching 2013. Holey Moley, how can that be! Yeah, it's the 2nd week of November already. Slightly depressing in that I've not achieved ANY of my goals for the year. Too many things happened and well, 2012 has definantly been life altering in many ways ... good and bad, but more good in the end. I can complain all day long, but I am thankful ... I have my family and friends (including Kitty). I have a job that pays the bills, that I actually love the people I work for. I have a roof over my head with running water and electricity. And ... I have LOTS of food in the freezers. Still. Apparently, menu planning is not the fix-all ... if you don't motivate and follow through and COOK the actual menus, then you are S C R E W E D. Don't get me wrong. It's not like we eat out every night or anythi...

Smokey Crock of Pork

Image
My creative juices are just not flowing this morning .... not sure what the issue is ... I do know that calling this Crockpot Pork, or BBQ Pork wouldn't be any more exciting, and hopefully, by the time I finish getting this post ready, I'll have an even more creative name besides a Smokey Crock of Pork. How about A Crock Full of Pork? Eh. Naming the stuff may not be easy, but PREPARING it is ... and well, it's probably nothing NEW by any means, but I've never made MY pork this way ... and even Hubby, who always feels the need to take over the end results, left it pretty much alone. Certainly, a close running to a local bbq joint, Texas Hold Em BBQ Pork , without having to fire up a makeshift smoker ... Ready? 5-6 lb pork shoulder, butt, bone in 1 tbs salt (I used this Himalayan stuff, just because I had it) 1/2 bottle of liquid smoke 3/4 cup water That's all you need. Seriously. Trim pork of any excessive amount of fat chunks. But don't tr...
